hello webtop!

Now, with a domain name you can spell…

We’ve upgraded to our new Webtop product line. Ok, I know, it’s been forever since we have updated this site, and it took us a couple of tries to get it right. Some of you may have thought we had fallen of the edge of the earth or perhaps swallowed up in some telco. Well, we have been working on other people’s webmail, and now we’re very excited to focus again on our very own hosted service.

goWebtop is still all about mail and contacts, but there are a few new items:

  • Multiple Windows

    • Compose multiple messages at once! Really, you don’t have to save the draft you are working on to refer to an email that you have received — just like a desktop mail app (from 1994)
    • Double-click to to read messages in multiple windows.
    • Messages forwarded as attachments open in their own windows.
    • Preferences is now non modal.
  • Contacts improvements
    • Concise contact overview.
When looking at contact details, the initial view shows just the fields for which you have defined values, allowing a single screen view for most situations. When you edit the contact, all the fields are shown.

    • Custom contact fields: you can add your own special fields with custom labels.
  • New Message Filter Options: you can now copy or delete immediately messages that match a certain criteria.

  • New Junk Mail protection option to delete immediately or just save in the Junk Mail folder

  • Better experience when an HTML message cannot be properly displayed: we now show a button right above the HTML message that has reduced formatting. You can choose to view it as is or open it in a browser window for full fidelity.
  • Application “dock” in the header
    • New window management: hide windows when you don’t need them, find them later in a handy menu in the header.
    • Quickly access application actions without having the application open from menus in the header.
  • Nifty network status indicator
  • Linux folks get new features: Import Contacts, Filters, Auto-save, and more! With the release of Flash Player 9 on Linux, we can finally upgrade the site for those who use Linux (about 7% of active users)
  • and more…
    • Default message view remembers its size
    • Registration with fewer questions and no leaping on the beach.
    • Shiny gloss silver skin with two coats of lacquer and fresh green highlights.

We hope you enjoy it.
